Optimists – Bringing out the Best in Kids.

 The Northridge Optimist Club has been active in the Northridge community for the past 50 years in providing youth scholarships, services and activities. Our club is interested in reaching out to the community for potential members to join us in serving the community, and would like to make Northridge alumni aware of this opportunity. A “Membership Invitation Brochure” is available to download HERE, with more information on our club and what we do. Meeting schedules are available on our WEBSITE along with more information on club activities and club contact information. Come visit us for lunch – be our guest, and see what you think.

New Summer Meeting Schedule Announced:
The Northridge Optimist Club will be on a revised schedule for the summer months. The club will not hold meetings at all in June or July, or for the first week in August. 

After the May 24 meeting there will be no club meetings until August 9. Meetings will then be held every other week.

Current schedule of club meetings for the rest of the 2021-2022 Optimist year:

Meeting on May 24
(no meeting May 31)
(no meetings in June or July)
(no meeting August 2)
Meeting on August 9
(no meeting August 16)
Meeting  on August 23
(no meeting August 30)
Meeting on September 6
(no meeting September 13)
Meeting on September 20
(no meeting September 27)

Any changes to the above schedule will be posted on this Bulletin Board page as they may occur.

Northridge Optimist in the News:
An article mentioning the Northridge Optimist Club appears in the May issue of Northridge Local Schools monthly publication "Dividends". The article on page 4 of the May 2022 issue highlights donations received so far in 2022 for the Northridge Polar Bear Foundation Fund, administered by The Dayton Foundation. The article extends thanks to the donors to the donors through the first quarter of the year, and provides information on the fund and how it benefits Northridge education. The "Dividends" is mailed to homes and businesses in the Northridge area to give updates and stories on school district activities. CLICK HERE to see this issue. Northridge Optimist Scholarship Updates:
The scholarship committee has made the 2022 selections from the applications that were provided by the school. There are four recipients of the Northridge Optimist Club Scholarships (totalling $7900) administered by The Dayton Foundation, and two recipients of the Sharron Braun/Northridge Optimist Club Scholarships, which is a separate entity, funded by Cargill (totalling $4800 over two years). The club will present scholarship certificates to the recipients at the Northridge Award ceremony at the school on May 25 at 6 pm. (CLICK HERE for more information on the Northridge Optimist Club Scholarships and the Sharron Braun/Northridge Optimist Club scholarships).
Northridge Polar Bear Foundation Fund Grant:
The Northridge Polar Bear Foundation Fund is a fund administered by The Dayton Foundation for providing grants that support educational enhancements for Northridge students (K-12). The Northridge Optimist Club supports this fund with donations, and also in an advisory capacity in the grant selection process. An amount of $1500 was awarded for the Spring cycle of the current school year. CLICK HERE to learn more about the fund and what it does.
